D'où vient le joli titre original du Vagabond de l'espace, Have Space Suit — Will Travel ? Je soupçonne, sans en être bien sûr, que c'est à l'origine un slogan de l'U.S. Navy, "Have Blue Suit, Will Travel !", qui a ensuite été repris et détourné de toutes les façons possibles. Ainsi, par exemple, me viennent à l'esprit un « Have Black Suit, Will Travel » du jeune prêtre de La Joyeuse Parade (There's no business like show business, 1954, avec Marylin et Donald O'Connor), ou le Have Trenchcoat — Will Travel de Doc Smith, lorsqu'il s'est essayé au polar. Mais c'est toujours amusant d'en découvrir un peu partout — ce fil, donc, pour noter les occurrences de hasard. Celle d'aujourd'hui : « Have Broomstick, Will Travel », lancé par James Stewart à Kim Novak, la blonde sorcière de L'Adorable voisine (Bell, Book and Candle, 1958).. ... et dans la foulée, « Have quill [plume d'oie], Will Travel » pour un éminent constitutionnaliste dans la sixième saison de West Wing ! |

D'après Wikipédia, ce serait en fait un classique des petites annonces US, "Have tools — will travel". remis à la mode en 1957 par une série télévisée western à succès, Have Gun — Will Travel, (le roman datant de 1958, la référence semble explicite...)

En tout cas, le Paladin héros de la série télé est un ancien de West Point... 
Clin d'œil : un des scénaristes de la série s'appelait Gene Roddenberry, qui en était à ses débuts, bien avant de créer Star Trek... |

En fait trois chansons au moins ont utilisé le titre "Have Love, – Will Travel" ! La plus connue est une chanson, écrite et créée en 1959, popularisée par une reprise de 1965, souvent reprise et adaptée depuis, a pour titre "Have Love, – Will Travel" !
